A bridge replaces a missing tooth with a structure supported by the neighbouring teeth. To make a bridge, the neighbouring teeth have to be ground down and joined into a single structure that carries the replacement for the missing tooth.
Indications:
As a bridge is actually a structure connecting 2 crowns, this connection changes the natural forces and directions acting on the supporting teeth, and making the crowns requires removing a significant amount of tooth tissue.
With a bridge, you also need to consider the small gap under the replacement tooth, which may tend to collect food. The supporting teeth also carry more load, as they are joined together and cannot function as they physiologically should. So there is a greater risk of problems with the supporting teeth.
Whenever possible, each tooth should be restored individually, i.e. a single gap should be filled with an implant.
The price of a bridge depends on the number of crowns in the bridge.
