Prosthetics and denture benefit

At our clinic you can use the denture benefit offered by the Health Insurance Fund (TERVISEKASSA)!

What you need to know about the denture benefit:

  • The benefit amount is always deducted from the bill immediately when you pay at the dentist. You do not need to fill in or submit any application or other document to the Health Insurance Fund or the dentist.
  • The denture benefit is 260 euros for three years.
  • For pensioners and people with partial or no work capacity, it is most beneficial to visit a dentist who has a contract both for the denture benefit (260 euros for three years) and for adult dental care (an additional 105 euros per calendar year). The adult dental care benefit applies to essential dental services.

The following insured persons are entitled to the denture benefit:

  • Pensioners who receive an incapacity for work pension or an old-age pension under the State Pension Insurance Act.
  • People with partial or no work capacity.
  • People over 63.

Please note:

Any unused part of the benefit is not carried over to the next period. If you do not know exactly how long ago your previous dentures were made, we recommend checking with the maker of the dentures or asking the Health Insurance Fund before your dental visit. You can also check this through the “Dental and denture services information” service on the state portal www.eesti.ee, or by sending a signed enquiry to the Health Insurance Fund by post or e-mail, or by visiting one of its customer service offices.

What is prosthodontics?

In prosthodontics, a tooth or teeth, or part of a tooth, are replaced with a structure made in a dental laboratory. Together, the dentist and patient choose the materials and method of replacement that solve the problem as effectively as possible and give the best aesthetic result.

Prosthetic restorations include:

  • Fixed prostheses;
  • Removable prostheses;
  • Veneers;
  • Crowns;
  • Inlays and onlays;
  • Bridges;
  • Implant crowns and bridges;
  • Post and core restorations;
  • Crowns on post and core restorations.

Removable dentures:

  • Acrylic dentures (the denture base is made of plastic that imitates the gums);
  • Cast partial dentures (the denture framework is cast metal and the parts supporting the teeth are made of plastic that imitates the gums);
  • Combined dentures (crowns combined with a denture fitted with attachments);

As the mouth is a balanced whole, a long-lasting denture requires restoring the opposing teeth and achieving an evenly distributed chewing load. Good oral hygiene and follow-up check-ups are very important. At set intervals the clasps and other attachments are checked and adjusted, the denture is cleaned of tartar and, if necessary, the denture base is relined with additional material according to how the jaw has changed in the meantime.
